Morong Rizal: San Geronimo

On August 11, 2008, in Travel, by mylifejoys

San Geronimo or St. Jerome Parish is the oldest church in the town of Morong, Province of Rizal. The facade is said to have the element of baroque, this is not only an art or architectural treasure but also a living monument to the dominant catholic religion in the Philippines.

St. Jerome as its patron is a theological scholar who translated bible into Latin. As fate would have it, one of Morong’s Francican missionary, Fr. Juan de Placensia is the translator of Doctrina Chritiana, which is the first printed book in the Philippines.
