I was invited in Alveo’s “The Red Oak” launch. I was able to have a peek of what Serendra has to offer its residents and true enough, it is not just another monument of the long-standing trademark of the Ayala excellence but also a dream for middle-class yuppies who cannot afford such luxury. Who wouldn’t want to have such a perfect life? Owning an Ayala property and the perks that come with it?

When you Google stress and wellness, the result is a smashing hit for stress. As in the real life, we often hear people say they are stressed than saying they are ‘fine’ or well, in the real sense of the word.
Fast Paced or Busy?
It is also observed that adding to the stressors are the fast paced lifestyle in the modern world, lest to say, in the urban lifestyle. Everything seems to be urgent, important, or even urgent AND important. The concept of relaxation and total well-being is becoming a thing of the past.
Most high rise residential buildings mushrooming the cities of Metro Manila removes the concept of homes where peace and quite are the main theme. There are those located along the busy main streets (or well– traffic should I say). Some are even beside or right across your office building; suggesting that living near your work is not technically bringing home work. And what happened to the line “have a break” if this is the case?
In the modern world, so they say, having a break is going to a mall for cool air, good food, and some retail therapy. The luxury of spending some peace and quiet as forms of relaxation is slowly fading from the definition of society.
As for me some of what I define as a path to a sense of wellbeing relating to work-life balance are:
Time with my family – for others, quality time is defined as short but with meaning. That is okay sometimes, but it is better for me to balance this with quantity time most of the time, if not all the time.
Relaxing home – some peace and quiet alone maybe, but this does not take away the fact that I can be relaxed with some people around. Some activities like watching my loved ones playing and splashing the pool while I listen to my latest mp3 play list. Reading a book around the lush greens while the kids are running around. Making me smile as I hear them giggling around or even joining them run with glee and be as crazy as they are.
Available and accessible facilities that will encourage each of the family members to explore and excel such as sports, art, or hobbies.
Short drive to or from work – To achieve all those I mentioned above, the travel time should be taken into consideration as an everyday activity. I may be able to buy a large home in the outskirts of metro, but steals about 4 hours of my time because of travel is not a sensible idea.

I am thankful for this brief visit in Serendra’s first class amenities. As for now, this serves as an inspiration that, yes maybe someday, I too will have the chance to own the experience, the future, and the beauty that this place has to offer.
