October is Happy Birthday Month!

Happy Birthday to my Mom (10/10) and my sisters Jaye-Jaye (10/11) & Jean-Jean (10/15), and our household angel Myra (10/26).

By the same time last year, Momi was either confined in the hospital or is bed due to health problems. It has been a great year so far. On her 51st birthday, it is trully a big gift to hear her singing videoke daily in her room next door…

Hearing her thunderous laughter while playing with Zandro and Julia or just talking to the phone with her children (my siblings of course) or classmates from abroad via our unlimited VOIP Phone (Voice Over Internet Protocol)…

Hearing the familiar pattern of footsteps threading the stairs…

Seeing her sitting by the computer to check her friendster and facebook at least 3x/day…

Seeing her sneak chocolates to her children’s wild reactions… She has diabetes that’s why we try to control her wholeday everyday snack times…

Seeing her create beaded accessories and give them away to nephews, nieces, and almost everybody…

Seeing and hearing her do a lot of things and feeling her vibrant presence with us “kids”, that enough is an everyday life joy.

In the past years, we usually dine out in fancy restaurants, just the six of us, her kids, my sister in law and our dear cousin. In her suppossed to be golden year we planned for a big celebration that we had to cancel as she was not in good condition.

This year, Momi had a blast in an intimate celebration at home with her high school mates, relatives, and few close friends. In a party we called “Thundercats Party”, we had to be picky about the menu as they (yes, the “Thundercats”) have strict diets.

Luckily, we have Tita Lisa (Seven Loaves Catering) to assist us and provide us great tasting food. The Lechon was a blockbuster among the younger ones though as the “Thundercats” took a piece of two, trying to be disciplined patients about this cardiac delight. Their doctors would have been proud of this lot.

Menu: Sukiyaki, Roast Beef, Mixed Vegetables, Carbonara, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu, Red Tea, Lechon Cebu, Buko Pandan (not in photo), Estrel’s Caramel Cakes

My sisters, who would usually celebrate their birthdays together, where out in the states for school. I miss you kiddos.

Zjaye and Jean remains to be Jaye-jaye and Jean-jean to us their Ate and Kuyas.

Our household angel, Myra is celebrating her birthday today (well, as of writing this post). As we usually do with our household helps, we celebrated her bithday with Pancit, Cake, Ice Cream, etc. I had to cook the pancit as my Mom begged to rest after a babies’ day out with her grandkiddos. The pressure was on and even though I know how to cook, Momi’s pancit still is the best.

It was a hard battle. I knew my pancit tasted good, but not the same as how she does her popular recipe. I cannot descibe how she do it, but even if, maybe we were given the same exact ingredients, hers would still taste better. My saving grace was the cake though from Icings and Bonnie’s Barbecue (from Tiendesitas).

Celebrating Myra’s birthday are nannies Meann and Lhen.

To all of you, Happy Birthday :)

Belated happy birthday to 2 of the imported Marudo girls. just learned that they have the same birth month as Mommie O. Wow, had I known that you had such yummy preparation during mommie O’s birthday, I would have flown to Manila pronto, hehehe. Btw, you should also try our lechon here.

  5. Zee says:

hi Debbie! thanks for visiting MLJ. A lot of guys started calling me “Ate” when they saw my sisterettes’ picture. Kumusta naman, I have so many brothers-in-law to-be (as much as sisters-in-law to-be — both girls and gay hehe).

  6. debbie says:

Ganyan talaga Zee basta popular at mga magagandang dilag (ang lalim ah, hehe). Good combination yata sina Tatay Z at Mommie O, hehe. Teka, puwede ba idagdag sa mga “to be” ang mga nephews ko? HAHAHAHA
