Grilled Chicken Breast with Mushroom Gravy
Scarcity requires choice… the pantry supplies has been running low and has not been replenished since the weekend. Grocery stores are closed for two days (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday). After deciding on the chicken breast fillet from the fridge, there are two packs of McCormick Mushroom Gravy mix. It is decided. I have chosen. It shall be Grilled Chicken with Mushroom Gravy.
I am not a chef, my cooking experience is confined only to the four corners of our home and my clientiele is composed of family members (who will love me no matter what becomes of this chicken) so that the measurement of ingredients depend solely if the food tastes right so far
So here is a simple and easy to cook recipe that requires just about anything instant around the kitchen. This will take about 30-40 minutes cooking time.
RECIPE
Grilled Chicken:
Ingredients
4 pcs grilled chicken breast fillet
dash of salt and pepper
ground, dried basil leaves (McCormick)
about 1 tablespoon of soy sauce (enough for chicken meat to have light soy color)

Do not overcook, make sure the moisture is retained so that the meat won't be dry.
Procedure
1. Check if there are parts of the chicken fillet that are thicker than other sides. With a knife, cut through the chicken to flatten or make even its thickness.
2. Marinate chicken breast fillet with salt, pepper, soy sauce, and basil leaves for 10 mins.
3. Pre-heat the electric grill.
4. Grill each side of the marinated chicken for 10 mins (or more depending on thickness of chicken fillet). Do not overcook, make sure the moisture is retained so that the meat won’t be dry.
5. Place on a plate and pour mushroom gravy.
Mushroom Gravy:
Ingredients
3 tablespoons sliced button mushroom (canned)
2 packs of McCormick Mushroom Gavy Mix
2 cups water
Procedure
1. Wash mushroom slices with tap water, put in a small bowl and add about a cup of hot water, to remove brine flavor and taste from the can.
2. Mix mushroom gravy powder with 2 cups of water making sure there are no lumps left.
3. Bring mushroom gravy mix to a boil, stirring constantly.
4. Add in mushroom slices.
5. Pour mix over grilled chicken breast.
Happy eating!
