Shiok in Global City

On May 20, 2010, in Food, by mylifejoys

It was a friend of mine, Rael, who advised me to look for Shiok “somewhere near Shell, Startbucks, and GCIC.” This place offers Singaporean dishes at a reasonable price. And because I super trust her recommendation on Asian fusion, it was on the top of my list for the week.

This afternoon, I looked for the landmarks mentioned in our discussion. With the scorching heat of the afternoon sun, I told myself, “This better be good…” So when I entered Shiok- a Singaporean slang for “tastes good” – the smell of the place already brought back memories of Merlions and Food Junction. Here is my first order (for what will seem to be frequent visits frome here on)…

Hainan Chicken meal (Php 255): consists of nasi lemak (rice), chicken, and various sauces i.e. hoisin, chili, and ground ginger. As you can see, the bird used is an older, which is the original Hainanese style. There are some variations of modern cooks who use young and tender chicken but not in the case of Shiok. Even if the bird is older, the end result was a tender and tasteful dish.

Milo Dinosaur drink (Php 65): Just look at the picture and for sure you’ll dream of making one if you have condensed milk and Milo in the pantry.

Shiok delivers for minimum order of Php 250.
