Why do I blog?
The answer – it depends…
If I were asked in 2008: “I blog because of my cool-new-friends-who-are-bloggers – Arpee and Khursten. So I thought, wow they are very informed people, knows a lot of fun stuff, and I like their crowd.”
So I never mentioned above that the reasons fall anywhere between being techie and being a great writer – because I know I’m neither.
Or if in 2009: ” I blog because of the budding interest in photography as an offshoot of my blogging.”
This interest in learning some better-than-basics-picture increased the passion to share the good things in life, well, in this case mostly food
So I thought, “Why not make the photos look better.” Well, I may not be an expert but at least my friends says so… hehehe.
What are friends for, right?
And forward to 2010: “By this time, there were comments from people I don’t know from Adam. People who thank me for the information, friends and acquaintances who tell me that they look forward to my posts and are happy reading them.”
There is more “seriousness” in my posts. I started asking the waiters about some information on the food I’m ordering or the cooking process involved in its preparation… etc. Hmmm, not really very academic but enough to understand food better.
Now… 2011, in this month of May is the third anniversary of My Life Joys. I’m asking myself… “Why do I blog?”
Lemme think again…
- Makes me happy to share happy things
- Develops a closer cyber relationship to my cyber friends
- My personal interests seemed to be something in general, that surprisingly, there are other people who share the same interests
- It enables me to experience, actively participate, and maximize my limited abilities in what this generation has to offer i.e. internet, new media, mobile technologies, etc., etc., etc…
- A minimal income from some ads pays for the hosting and leaves few extras for my other hobby -reading – in buying ebooks
- Makes my paypal account active
- Oh my, there are a lot more reasons and they are too many to mention
The list may go on from shallow to mundane to deep and dramatic, but what the heck… in all these years, blogging allows me to realize my dreams. It also allows me to be a well rounded person. I can be a writer, critic, photographer, publisher, influencer, participant… again, etc.
Blogging doesn’t necessarily need to peel off myself and expose to the world the private details of my life but allows to me still share the person that I am.
It is my hope that my blog brings you the same joy as it gives me. Thank you for the followers of My Life Joys. In this new year, I hope to share more thru WordPress for Blackberry. Moving around and blogging about in a more timely manner… something short but sweet.
And to my family and friends who support me… for understanding and accepting that I should take pictures of our food before eating, THANK YOU so much.
