True, Kristen was very lovable as Bella Swan in Twilight but how would someone take away the character from the personality when she accidentally dropped her popcorn award! :)

It may have just “Twilight” but it has already eclipsed all the others in the 2009 MTV Movie Awards when it brought home a lot of golden popcorns for:

Best Movie, Twilight

Best Female Performance, Kristen Stewart

Breakthrough Performance, Robert Pattinson

Best Kiss, Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet

2009 MTV Movie Winners

One of my fave moments was when Jim Carey was accepting his Best Comedic Performance award. It was hilarious.

This event will surely make a good prelude to New Moon, which is the second book in the Twilight saga.

10 Things About Influenza

This is the kind of shot that maybe discomforting at first but is all worth the pain.  A flu shot.  A vaccine against the Influenza virus.

I have been invited to a Flu Awareness Seminar and I’d like to share 10 things about Flu that I learned from the talk by Dr. Ruby Dizon of Sanofi Pasteur.

  1. Cannot be treated with antibiotics –  Flu is a viral infection, antibiotics are for bacterial infection hence, antiobiotics are not effective for flu.
  2. Influenza is a respiratory virus but it is different from the common cold virus.
  3. There are three types of flu - Type A (serious, most common), B, and C (avian).
  4. The flu last for about 3-5 days, which can develop to more sever symptoms like pneumonia, dehydration, ear infection, etc.
  5. In the Philippines, flu is most common during the rainy season or between June to August and colder months from December to February.
  6. A vaccine is effective for about a year. If you plan to get it, better to have it on March when the new vaccines for the new strain has been prepared.  Having flu shots on March will cover both the rainy and cold months for the new strain. (more…)

Event: Island Cove Adventure I

Summer is here and there is no better way to welcome the season than our version of Amazing Race in Binakayan, Cavite.  With friends and bloggers, we were invited to Detour: Island Cove Adventure.  It is my first time in Island Cove and I’d say I was impressed with the diverse offerings that they have for the whole family.

I say diverse because they cater to the interests from fishing, singing, outdoor fun such as swimming (with slides!), and  paintball.  Kids and kids once will also enjoy and learn about nature in the butterfly farm and zoo featuring crocodiles, about 35 monkeys, ostriches, cassowary, lions, deer, and a lot more.  I suggest, you see for yourself, hehe.

For people who like the night life, they also have Patron where BBZ is served. Yes, Beer Below Zero. Island Cove so far is the only establishment in Cavite that serves BBZ.

It’s the time of year when good friends are dear.. taking time to be kind to one and all…

As the song goes, Christmas is the time when we give gifts from the grandest to the simplest, with a the common thought that we give with a sincere and genuine care for each other. Lots of gift ideas ranging from food, daily necessities, gift checks, toys, and a lot of other choices flood the malls and bazaars (tiangges) all over the metro.

Red Ribbon has just launched their Coffee Walnut Bavarian. Presenting this first in its Premium Selections, this is such a good choice to give our loved ones this season.  A mix of smooth coffee and Kahlua with walnuts, dark chocolate bars, and cocoa powder assembled together in a chiffon cake, this a work of art that is both pleasing to the eyes and taste buds. Our friends and family will definitely feel special receiving a Red Ribbon cake that is created specially for this season.

So make the extraordinary gesture of sharing this piece of heaven to those most dear to you. Visit any of the Red Ribbon Bakeshops or call 8-7777 (for Metro Manila) and take the pleasure of having them indulge in this season’s most delightful masterpiece of all.

Event: Manila Outdoor Gallery

As a kid, I remember vividly the wonderful times in our Art class or Technology and Home Economics (T.H.E.) class. Those were just some of the days when our creativity and talents were not just honed but also put to the edge of what more we can offer from the last projects we’ve done. Having been educated in an exclusive school for girls up until high school where such subjects on the arts were given well credit the same as for the sciences and math, I am lucky enough to have had such opportunities.

College was different, I took up engineering so that I had math all over the place even in my dreams when numbers would try to race me and probably strangle me had they were given the chance. I had to have short sleeps that such nightmares end up just before some gory scenes happen.

Drawing classes were those of cross section of a screw, nut, bolts, and other mechanical things. The joy in getting high marks in perspective views of inanimate objects were not even close to that of a simple doodle in the back pages of my notebooks.

I would have taken up Fine Arts but it was not practical during those times when I had to be in college. I can go back to it anytime, so I thought.

One evening I was invited to a billboard art launch and the excitement rushing through my veins was unexplainable. The adrenaline surge was so high that my brain was getting fuzzy. This is, after all, my first real ART encounter since high school. I mean, okay I’ve gone to a photo workshop, a t-shirt art design and all but my kind of art… aside from photography are paintings, sketches, etc… I may have a sketch pad at work with water color pencils and craypas but this event was different… This was it.

The Public Affairs arm of Outdoor Advertising Association of the Philippines (OAAP), 2nd Media opens the biggest outdoor gallery in Asia where we will see artworks in one of the oldest media, billboards, within the stretch of North Luzon Expressway to Edsa. Featuring ten artworks from the most promising Filipino artists, this is called “Manila Outdoor Gallery.”

This gallery boasts of a collection focusing on environmental awareness. And who will disagree that this way is not one of the better ways to drive such a noble message across. Almost all the biggest companies in not just in the Philippines but also international brands clamor for ad space in this stretch of Luzon. They too know that the millions of people passing this route daily will care to take a look, appreciate, and get the message.
