We are more familiar to see cream dory in groceries – fillet and frozen.
So how does it look like before ending up in freezers? Here take a look:

What better way to beat the heat than a cold shake… Not just any other shake but Zagu Pearl Shake. Zagu offers various flavors and sizes at Php 33 to 54 pesos.
This is a drink that rocked in the 90′s but has endured the fads that come and go… proving that they have a loyal base in this tropical country all year round. There are several branches of Zagu in malls and groceries.

Why do I blog?
The answer – it depends…
If I were asked in 2008: “I blog because of my cool-new-friends-who-are-bloggers – Arpee and Khursten. So I thought, wow they are very informed people, knows a lot of fun stuff, and I like their crowd.”
So I never mentioned above that the reasons fall anywhere between being techie and being a great writer – because I know I’m neither.
Or if in 2009: ” I blog because of the budding interest in photography as an offshoot of my blogging.”
This interest in learning some better-than-basics-picture increased the passion to share the good things in life, well, in this case mostly food
So I thought, “Why not make the photos look better.” Well, I may not be an expert but at least my friends says so… hehehe.
What are friends for, right?
And forward to 2010: “By this time, there were comments from people I don’t know from Adam. People who thank me for the information, friends and acquaintances who tell me that they look forward to my posts and are happy reading them.”
There is more “seriousness” in my posts. I started asking the waiters about some information on the food I’m ordering or the cooking process involved in its preparation… etc. Hmmm, not really very academic but enough to understand food better.
Now… 2011, in this month of May is the third anniversary of My Life Joys. I’m asking myself… “Why do I blog?”
Lemme think again…
- Makes me happy to share happy things
- Develops a closer cyber relationship to my cyber friends
- My personal interests seemed to be something in general, that surprisingly, there are other people who share the same interests
- It enables me to experience, actively participate, and maximize my limited abilities in what this generation has to offer i.e. internet, new media, mobile technologies, etc., etc., etc…
- A minimal income from some ads pays for the hosting and leaves few extras for my other hobby -reading – in buying ebooks
- Makes my paypal account active
- Oh my, there are a lot more reasons and they are too many to mention
The list may go on from shallow to mundane to deep and dramatic, but what the heck… in all these years, blogging allows me to realize my dreams. It also allows me to be a well rounded person. I can be a writer, critic, photographer, publisher, influencer, participant… again, etc.
Blogging doesn’t necessarily need to peel off myself and expose to the world the private details of my life but allows to me still share the person that I am.
It is my hope that my blog brings you the same joy as it gives me. Thank you for the followers of My Life Joys. In this new year, I hope to share more thru WordPress for Blackberry. Moving around and blogging about in a more timely manner… something short but sweet.
And to my family and friends who support me… for understanding and accepting that I should take pictures of our food before eating, THANK YOU so much.

For a long time now, I’ve been trying to look for ways to blog real time specially during lunch when there are great stuff that I’d like to share to all of you.
This is a test post where the photo was taken from a lunch out with my dear friends in Alexandre. This place is a French resto located in Global City near “stopover.” Will post more details in the coming days

Uncle Cheffy is one of the restaurants owned by Chef’s Quarters, which is also known to corporate clients as one of the preferred caterers. As for Uncle Cheffy, they specialized in slow cooking using the brick-oven technology.

Lunch for me is a time to really take a break and indulge. Amidst all the stress of corporate life, having the luxury of an hour break from the office ambiance, Uncle Cheffy’s The Fort branch is like an oasis in the dessert. One word: Refreshing. In the fast developing Forbestown area, near Burgos Circle, Uncle Cheffy has already captured the hearts of diners and more so, repeat customers.
I was able to take pictures of some of my recent lunch visits there and here are my favorites.
Grilled Blue Marlin with brown ruce and couscous pilaf – Pungent aroma of the herbed butter plus the perfectly cooked fish is something new for me. I haven’t seen or heard of a similar dish in another resto. As for the price of this dish, I honestly cannot remember exactly but something around Php 395.

Being a self-confessed carnivore, I have ordered this Beef Medallion “Steak Tagalog” for four times already
The cheese is actually “Kesong Puti” and the side salad is one my favorites in Uncle Cheffy. Even if I can finish the whole plate, I thing this is good for two hehe… This can be enjoyed at the price of Php 395.

Spatchcocked Chicken. Okay… what was it again? When I asked the waiter what does it mean, the answer was that it is a bird preparation, in this case, chicken, where the backbone is cut or removed, flatten, and then grilled. So now I get it… Definitely good for sharing together with the salsa and potato salad at Php 295.

Desserts… something I can live without… But this Sweet Potato Creme Brulee has become another favorite. Ordering this and leche flan alternately during my visits, such a good buy at Php 95. Generous servings that can be shared with your posse.

The one and only branch I’ve been with is in The Fort, Global City. Should you be interested to know more, check their Facebook profile.

One lazy afternoon, my brother, Tatay, and I were just dilly dallying in the living room when out of the blue my dear brother thought of having dinner in C’ Italia. A restaurant some two hours away from the Metro. So I called in and made a reservation for a dinner at 8PM.
Joyriding to North Luzon expressway in a brand new Starex Limousine driven by a new driver, it was a blessing that the van has a large LCD screen as we got lost looking for the resto. Suffice to say that from 6PM that we left the house, we arrived at 10PM.
So we were given a table right away, al fresco style in the garden. I wasn’t able to take pictures of the place as my tummy was already churning from hunger. Even the menu, I can’t read anymore so I just agreed to whatever the posse I arrived with were ordering.
The Panniza was perfect. It is a very thin pizza that is rolled with alfalfa sprouts and arugula. To complete the meal were Black Angus Beef … I ate 4 slices I guess. The Lamb Ribs was a sarap to the bone, no “maanggo” smell that usually put off Pinoys from veal. The Chilean Seabass at first was something I’d usually pass (being a meat lover that I am) but it was cooked to perfection that it was a blockbuster among a group of carnivores. There was pasta, but honestly, I won’t describe it as I haven’t eaten it. I was so full from the beef that’s why.

I’d say that it was well worth the wait, distance, fuel, and toll fees. I wouldn’t mind travelling the north to experience C’ Italian dining again.

Graduates get a treat from Sambo Kojin Yakiniku Smokeless Grill. When you dine in and bring a proof that you are a graduate, you get a free drink and stuffed toy.
There was a good mix of meat, poultry, and seafood slices aside from desserts, sushi, kimchi, and other Korean and Japanese favorites. Yakiniku, basically, is grilling thin strips of meat – maybe marinated or not.
A buffet lunch is at Php 495 each with no left over, in case there is, you will add Php 100. I think for dinner buffet it’s Php 595 per person.

We recently visited Sambo Kojin, which is located at the second floor of Somethin’ Fishy at the Eastwood City Walk. It was one memorable family day. Tatay enjoyed it the most having a penchant for Korean and Japanese food. The place is spacious and has high ceiling. So that even if it was a very busy lunch jam packed with new grads, there was still enough room to walk around getting food for grilling. The tables and aisle spaces were also at comfortable distance.
I’m looking forward to go back with family and friends to another good experience in Sambo Kojin. There is a newly open branch in Edsa and I’m hoping it’s as cozy as their Eastwood branch.

In these times when oil price is going up every week, it creates a domino effect thus increasing prices of other commodities. Internet marketing or “social site” has presented us some options to save up and get good deals for items that are beyond the daily necessities of life.
People can do without hotel dining, out of town travels, facials with diamond peeling, dental whitening sessions. But then, Ensogo and CashcashPinoy allow its followers to get great deals from the daily promos featured in their sites.
How Does It Work:
1. One promo is published each day that has around 50% – 90% savings
2. Click the deal before the deadline
3. Pay online or bank deposit
4. A voucher will be sent thru email or a link where that can be downloaded; a variation maybe receiving an SMS for voucher details
5. Print the voucher or show SMS to merchant
6. Use according to the terms indicated in the offer
7. Maybe given as gift
