Turtle Pie from Purple Oven

On December 31, 2010, in Dessert, Food, by mylifejoys

Last Christmas eve, I was standing between 3 PM to around close to 9 PM cooking noche buena. Aside from that, I was driving and walking around early in the day to buy ingredients for the noche buena. It was sooo tiring that I woke up at noon on Christmas day. It was well worth it though, as the dishes were a big hit to the last bite without really bribing my clan :)

Anyway, it’s the last day of the year and I’m not stressing much for the media noche as it was decided we’ll order food. So what’s left for me is to prepare desserts.  I am so lazy and wanted to just enjoy the day so the only task was to pick out among the popular bakeshops and grab some sweet pie, cake, or pastries.  Would it be Conti’s in The Fort or should I go to QC for Estrel’s???

Driving around I ended up in Oranbo and then taa-daaa, it just popped in my head… Purple Oven! Yep, this a factory of cakes, which is said to be the supplier of Starbucks (though I’m not really sure). Headed to St. Peter St., lucky me Purple Oven was still open at 2 PM. When my brother went at 3:30 to buy more stuff but and it was already closed. Understandably, stores close earlier today for the New Year celebration.

I bought a turtle pie at P650. There were free sample slices of Rum Cake, which was very good too.

On July 2, 2010, in Food, by mylifejoys

Getting a kick of blog radar, lunch with another blogger and friend of mine, Chef Ward, within the Fort area, we were led to Xocolat. My favorite blogger, Arpee who is also a close friend, got me inspired by his Xocolat post when I read it last night.
