There is a new branch of UCC Park Cafe in Burgos Circle of  Bonifacio Global City. Together with my friend Abigail, who ordered Seafood Penne Au Gratin and  Blueberry with Banana smoothie, I ordered for my all-time favotite – Japanese Seafood Spaghetti Soup and of course, Coke.

There were also coffee bean and ground coffee selections by the door entrance, which are interesting. The place was cozy and was decorated in good taste.  Will definitely be back one of these days to try out some of their other dishes and coffees.

Pho24, Vietnamese Noodles

On May 28, 2009, in Food, by mylifejoys

What makes office lunches a time well spent? For working people like me, this is an hour to rush… Does it seem enough to enjoy?  Sometimes it’s not just the food that makes up this sixty minutes of break from tons of work load but also the people whom I spent it with. So for today why not have the best of both worlds right?  Have a good meal and spend it with a dear friend. Cecil invited me to Pho24 Vietnamese Noodles in Power Plant Mall, Rockwell and it was such a good discovery.

It has been a long time since I had Vietnamese dishes. At first I was thinking, “Oh well, what should I expect but spring rolls and togue (bean sprouts)… just like expecting siew mai or siomai in Chinese restaurants, maki or sushi in Japanese restaurants, or pasta and pizza and Italian restaurants.”  True enough there are togue and spring rolls, but they were not just togue and spring rolls.  This particular dining experience in Pho24 has given me a good impression of Vietnamese dishes.  It was more than just a Pho, which is thinly sliced meat in noodles soup or fancy spring rolls in rice wrappers.

Onion, Basil, Parsley, Chili, Bean Sprouts, Lemon Wedge

Seafood Island Boodle Feast

On April 5, 2009, in Food, by mylifejoys

Dapitan's Pride

This is not my first time in Seafood Island, Market! Market!, Taguig City. More than five times actually that I have dined in here in different occasions for different reasons. The first few were really satisfying to say the least. The excitement in having to try eating boodle style added to the ambiance that this place offers.  With pirate ships, pirates, and treasure map painted on the main wall together with rope motif on the chairs, the place welcome the idea of eating with your bare hands.

Boodle feast or boodle fight is a military tradition where food, usually rice and viands, these are  placed on a bamboo leaves. Once the “fight” starts, everyone gets to eat fast with their fingers/hands.  As the name implies, it is a “fight” so everyone tries to finish as fast and as many as they could.  With a lot of people fighting over a limited meal, it is matter of survival on who gets to fill his hunger.
